Goat Moth larva (Cossus cossus), wilgenhoutrups

Yesterday, at the sunset, I found a trunk with fingersize holes in it. These are the tracks of the catterpillar of the Goat Moth. Especially willows and poplars are the feeding place of this gray moth. When the stemfoot is damaged by mowing, the moth can find the spot to put her eggs in. The larva image I made years ago.
