Spring crocus, Crocus vernus, bonte krokus

Nature is exploding now. Temperature about 12 degrees C in shadow, all day sun, less windy... its weather if it was March. So much flowers start now that I cannot put all of them in this blog. This time a well known garden bulb, Spring crocus. In the wild it is growing in the hills and mountains of middle Europe but is cultivated for ages. These kind of flowers which can be found in estate-gardens, churchgardens, and other "rich"people houses for ages are described in the 1950-60th in the Netherlands. The gardens of "stone houses" or Stinzen were very special in that way and therefore botanists have named these kind of garden vegetations as Stinzen vegatation. The plants are "Stinzenplanten" and they all are brought to that kind of gardens an can survive on there own. This started for as we know in the 17th or may be in the 16th age. Dutch traders on the levant were bringing bulbflowers from their travels and putted them in their gardens... Het gaat nu helemaal los met de planten, ik kan niet alles wat gaat bloeien meer in dit blog kwijt dus het zal een selectie worden. Vandaag bloeit overal de bonte krokus, een bekende verschijning in de tuinen en oorspronkelijk afkomstig uit midden en zuid Europa. Ook deze krokus wordt tot de stinzenplanten gerekend. Deze foto is vanmiddag gemaakt op Land en Bosch in 's-Graveland, wijdemeren. Sinds kort eigendom van Natuurmonumenten. Het ligt naast het meest bekende krokusveld van de omgeving: Jachtlust. In de bureauagenda van Natuurmonumenten staat bij week 14 een foto van de theekoepel van Jagtlust en de krokussen van mijn hand. Jachtlust is sinds een jaar eigendom van Natuurmonumenten.
